Who Are We?

The American Society of Osteoporosis Providers (ASOP) debuted in July 2022 with a crucial mission. We were created to address the lack of baseline knowledge that often challenges new and experienced providers working in Osteoporosis and Bone Health (OBH). This knowledge gap precludes many providers from successfully engaging in OBH, either on a primary or secondary level. Your role in this mission is invaluable.

Our charge is to empower osteoporosis and bone health (OBH) healthcare providers by providing education, recognition, and data support in the bone health arena. We will achieve this by developing and implementing standardized training and certification-level testing for OBH professionals while developing and integrating tools to support universal best practices and creating the standard of care in OBH care.

We want to engage all professionals who work in OBH. It's a LONG LIST of intertwined professions, and we welcome everyone. Are you on the list?

Do I Belong? Let's Take a Look.

Membership:

The ASOP is launching our inaugural membership drive! We included items to help you in your day-to-day clinic and expand your horizons in Osteoporosis and bone Health (OBH). As a member, you can access exclusive resources, networking opportunities, and discounts on educational events. Most importantly, your voice will join others in the only Society dedicated exclusively to OBH professionals. Membership levels include:

Bronze Level Membership:

Lifelong Learning: Our Lifelong Learning pages are your gateway to continuous professional development. Access Bone Clubs, Project ECHO sites, and various in-person and virtual learning events in the USA.

Gold Level Membership:

Not only will you have access to the Lifelong Learning library, but additional benefits also include:

Blog: Our blog is a collaborative space where everyone can share and learn. Our first blog post, "Who Ya Gonna Call?" discusses the need for a strong, diverse clinical network and serves as a platform for case discussions. We have more blogs coming online and plan to post several new posts monthly, fostering a sense of community and shared learning.

Resource Links: Are you tired of searching for resources online? We've done the legwork for you, compiling a comprehensive list of guidelines, source material, and organizational sites on a single, easy-to-navigate page. This resource is designed to make your work easier and more efficient.

Job Board: We've heard the voices for a national job board in OBH, and here it is. Members post for free.

1:1 Sessions: No matter where you are in your career, there will often come a point when you need to discuss issues ranging from marketing to clinical to workflow. We're here to help. Our experienced professionals are available for personalized sessions to address your needs and challenges.

Training and Testing:

We continue to make progress with our coalition to build out standardized training and certification-level testing at two levels. Our basic level will cover recognition, diagnosis, treatment, monitoring, and everything surrounding postmenopausal and male osteoporosis. Think of the basic level as primary osteoporosis identification and management.

The advanced level will cover information at the primary level, PLUS adding secondary OBH items such as secondary fracture prevention, pre-operative risk assessment, rare bone diseases, advanced imaging, and more.

Rare Bone Disease Drive

In our progress toward finding source material for training, we have seen limited, concise sources overviewing rare bone diseases. We intend to create content that presents an overview of rare bone diseases, their diagnosis, and their management. The goal is to simplify the complexity of rare bone diseases to allow OBH clinicians a starting point in their detection and diagnosis.

Your generous support will bring this project to completion.

And Finally

We plan on a quarterly newsletter. As we have more information, we will change the frequency appropriately.

Significant hard work has been invested in meeting your needs and striving to earn your respect. Let your voice be heard!

Let me know if we should address any issues as we move forward.

That's how we move forward together!

Best,

Dudley Phipps, CEO/Executive Director
